Increase in the volume of passenger traffic: Airlines increasingly use wide body airplanes
Wide body airplanes are passenger aircrafts having a fuselage wide enough to accommodate two passenger aisles between the seats. Furthermore, six to ten seats can be installed in one row. The typical fuselage diameter is 5 to 6 meters; the largest airplanes exceed 70 meters in length. These airplanes allow carrying great number of passengers (to 850 passengers for Airbus A380).
From May 1 to May 15 these type of aircrafts arrive at Kazan international airport almost daily. 15 arriving and departing flights were served within the specified period. Most frequently served were Boeing 767 of IKAR Airlines and Airbus A330 of Onur Air Airlines, performing flights on the route Antalya – Kazan – Antalya and Boeing 777 of Vim Avia Airlines on the route Dalaman – Kazan – Dalaman.
A total of 7020 passengers were transported on these flights.
3750 meters in length and 45 meters wide, Kazan airport runway, is prepared for the landing of the heaviest airplanes such as Airbus A380 and Boeing 747. There are 42 parking lots for the aircrafts at the disposal of the airport.
